BIO:  Look at this adorable little, long hair sweetheart!  Thanks to corrective surgery for early onset cataracts, Little Bit's vision is restored, and she is enjoying her new life in a loving AADR foster home waiting for an adoptive family to give her the forever home she deserves. She will need eye drops daily for the rest of her life, but what a change for her!!! She was found by a Good Samaritan wandering in circles near a busy highway. Thanks to AADR, her vet eye specialist, and the eye drops (approximately $30 monthly) she can see ... YAHOO!

Our must haves (no exceptions, please) for Little Bit include:

  • A fenced yard
  • Someone who is home a lot to keep her on her potty schedule and for her to keep you company
  • No apartments or high-rises
  • She either needs to be an only dog or have a home with an adult small male dog, she likes being the queen of the house

She loves playing with toys and spending time following you all over the house. If you are looking for a love bug and forever companion, then you have found her. Please contact her foster mom if you have any questions or fill out the online adoption application on our website.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an application.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
