4th Annual Dachshund Derby Picnic

was held

This year’s picnic was a great time for all involved. We had gift bags, give-a-ways, raffles, games, food, and fun. Check back here for pictures of the big day. In the mean time, we would love to hear how you enjoyed the picnic in our guest book.

Looking for a dachshund to add to your family?

We have dogs that are not yet listed on the website. Let us know what you are looking for. If we don't currently have "your" special dog, consider filling out an application anyway. We will process your application so you will be pre-approved when your special dog does come in. This way, you won't have to wait when you see the dachshund you want and it will be in your home before you know it!

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!

Please Volunteer
We need foster homes. Please consider joining our organization to help these precious babies find loving, forever homes. If you have room for a dachshund in your home while he/she waits to be adopted, please complete a Foster/Member Application and we will be in touch with you shortly.

Most of our members are located in the Southeastern States right now but we hope to expand all over the United States. In some states we only have a couple of members but you could change that. Please see Membership section for more information.

All of our rescues are now micro-chipped but we must pass the small cost on to our adopters. Micro-chips are through 24 Petwatch. If you have adopted one of our dogs, please be sure you have registered the chip. You can do this at http://www.24petwatch.com/.

Transportation Volunteers Needed

SSDR needs your help transporting needy Dachshunds to their forever homes, and to foster homes. Most transports are on the weekend and only require a few hours of your time. If you are interested in making a big impact on a dog's life, please join our Dachshund transport group to volunteer for transports in your area.

Our Mission

The mission of Southern States Dachshund Rescue is to protect the welfare of Dachshunds, to promote the humane treatment and well being of these animals by:

Providing shelter and medical care for stray and abandoned Dachshunds;

Responding with personal commitment, humane sensitivity, compassion, and technical skill to the needs of these Dachshunds;

Actively promoting suitable adoptions of Dachshunds;

Encouraging spaying and neutering to ensure the numbers of unwanted Dachshunds be kept to a minimum;

Helping to prevent cruelty to animals by promoting animal welfare education.
